Your homepage is the first thing
Google and ChatGPT read.
In 30 minutes, we'll fix the five things it's getting wrong.
You already know SEO matters. What nobody tells you is where to start. So we're starting on one page — the one search engines and AI tools read first — and I'll walk you through it while you follow along on your own site. Press play whenever you've got half an hour.
Every season it stays unclear is another season the clients searching right now book whoever Google can find instead.
Taught by Melissa Arlena — 18+ years behind the camera and an SEO educator who booked her own calendar straight from Google (no tech degree required).
“She breaks down the complex topic of SEO so that a non-tech savvy person (like me, haha) can understand it and take action to improve their rankings.”

SEO isn't dead. Search is changing.
You've probably seen it a dozen times this month — SEO is over, everyone's using AI now. And if you never quite got SEO figured out in the first place, that lands like one more thing you're already behind on.
So here's what's actually happening. Your dream client can open Google and search “newborn photographer in Richmond.” Or she can open ChatGPT and ask for a recommendation. Two different tools — and both of them are reading websites to work out who fits.
Which means the job hasn't changed. What do you photograph? Where are you? Who do you serve? What should you be known for? Answer those clearly and you're easier to find in both places. Leave them fuzzy and you're hard to find in either.
You don't need a second strategy for AI. You need one page that says plainly what your business is — and that's the page we're fixing.
You don't need more SEO tips.
You need to know exactly what to fix.
SEO gets overwhelming fast. Keywords. H1s. Page titles. Meta descriptions. Alt text. You know you should be doing something — but figuring out what matters and where it goes is usually where everything stalls.
In this workshop, I'm narrowing it down for you. Open your homepage, grab your workbook, and follow along as I walk you through the five fixes I'd start with first.
- Pick the one keyword your homepage should be built around
- Rewrite your main headline (your H1) so it's built around that keyword
- Fix your page title & meta description — the text that actually shows up in Google search results
- Add a clear "who / what / where" section so Google, AI tools and your visitors instantly get who you're for
- Weave your keyword through your copy and your photo alt text (the hidden description behind your images)
Your homepage is the front door.
It's usually the first page Google reads, the first page an AI tool pulls from, and the first page your dream client lands on — which makes it the highest-leverage place to begin.
You don't have to fix your entire website this week. You just need to give your most important page a job. Get the foundation right, give it a little time to bake, and everything you build on top of it works harder.

Hi, I'm Melissa.
I make SEO make sense.
I'm not just an SEO expert. I'm a photographer who's ugly-cried over an empty inbox (more than once, if we're being honest).
I know what it feels like to pour your heart into your work and wonder why no one's finding you. To watch photographers with half your talent rank above you, and start to think maybe SEO just isn't your thing.
But here's what I've learned after 18+ years behind the camera and 10+ years in IT: SEO isn't hard. It's just been taught wrong. I speak both photographer and tech, so I can turn the confusing stuff into simple steps that actually make sense. No jargon. No overwhelm. Just "do this, then this, then this."
I've relocated twice as a military spouse and ranked page one in brand-new markets within six months, both times, and I've helped 125+ photographers do the same. (Results vary, and SEO compounds over time.)
Now I want to make it easy for you, too, starting with your homepage.
You don't have to be the techy one

She teaches in such an approachable style and makes the information easy to digest and implement. I feel so much more confident in understanding SEO for my business.Nicole DeTone

A few things photographers always ask
I'm on Squarespace / ShowIt / WordPress. Will this work for me?
Yes. All five fixes are things every platform lets you edit — you just have to know where they live. I'll show you where to find them as we go, whichever one you're on.
I'm really not techy. Is this going to be over my head?
Here's the thing — I spent 10+ years in IT and 18+ years behind the camera, so I speak both. There isn't a single term in this workshop that I don't explain in plain English the moment it comes up. If you can edit your own website, you can do this.
Is this live, or a recording?
It's the recording. This workshop ran live in September and what you get is that full half hour, exactly as it happened. You watch it whenever you've got the time, with the workbook walking you through the same five steps beside it.
Is this only for maternity and family photographers?
It's built for portrait photographers, so that's where my examples come from. The five fixes work on any photography homepage.
Does this help me get found in ChatGPT and AI search too?
That's a big part of why we're doing it. AI tools read the same websites Google does — they're just answering in sentences instead of a list of links. So the work is the same work: make it obvious what you shoot, where you shoot it, and who you shoot it for. There's no separate AI checklist to bolt on. Clear beats clever in both.
What I won't tell you is that half an hour puts you in ChatGPT results. Nobody can promise that, in Google or anywhere else. What it does is give both of them something clear to read.
What do I need to have ready?
Your website login and half an hour where you can actually sit down. That's it. The workbook comes to you the moment you buy, so you can skim it before you press play if you like.
How is this different from the free SEO advice I've already read?
Most free advice tells you what SEO is. This tells you exactly what to change, in what order, on one specific page — and you do it alongside me instead of adding it to a someday list. SEO takes time to bake, so this isn't an overnight fix. It's the foundation everything else you do sits on.
What if it's not for me?
Email me within 7 days and I'll refund you, no questions asked. I'd rather you keep your $37 than sit on something that wasn't the right fit.
