You’re probably thinking about blogging all wrong… as a last minute effort instead of the primary marketing strategy it should be.
In this episode we go over all the major places you need to be sharing your blog post links and several ways to rehash that article into multiple posts, carousels and reels.
Your blog posts should be the foundation of your marketing plan, not a “when you have a time” task.
00:01:38 [Melissa]
What I’m saying is I think you need to flip the script and focus on your blog post first, and then Mhmm.
00:01:44 [Melissa]
Reutilize that information in your social media and in all these other marketing avenues, and it’s gonna save you so much time.
00:01:52 [Alison]
Hey, I’m Allison, military spouse and family photographer.
00:01:55 [Melissa]
Melissa, also a military spouse, lifestyle newborn photographer, and SEO expert for photographers.
00:02:00 [Melissa]
Between the two of us, we have a combined twenty seven years in photography and have lived through nine business relocations.
00:02:05 [Alison]
We’ve coached each other through all these challenges, and now we want to share our experience with you.
00:02:09 [Alison]
On this podcast, we’ll give you actionable steps to help you keep it moving.
00:02:15 [Alison]
Alright.
00:02:15 [Alison]
Hey guys, you’re listening to the Keep It Moving podcast.
00:02:18 [Alison]
Today’s episode is all about maximizing your blog post with your marketing, squeezing every bit of juice out of that effort for multiple purposes.
00:02:26 [Alison]
But before we we would really love to see you leave a review in whatever app you’re using, whether that’s Spotify or Audible.
00:02:33 [Alison]
Did you do podcasts or an Audible?
00:02:35 [Melissa]
Or Apple or Apple?
00:02:36 [Alison]
Or Apple?
00:02:37 [Alison]
Or Applecast, whatever your podcast app of choice, leave a review.
00:02:40 [Alison]
Some stars, we’ll totally go with some stars.
00:02:42 [Alison]
No need for words that route, but we would love to get your feedback.
00:02:46 [Alison]
This is really a one-sided situation for us.
00:02:48 [Alison]
So unless you reach out to us, email or Instagram or those reviews, we don’t know what you wanna hear or what’s most useful or what you want more of.
00:02:56 [Alison]
So give us that feedback through review and as always, keep sharing.
00:02:59 [Alison]
Keep sharing.
00:03:00 [Alison]
Alright.
00:03:01 [Alison]
So here we go.
00:03:01 [Alison]
So how can we make the most of a blog
00:03:05 [Melissa]
post?
00:03:06 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:03:06 [Melissa]
So the big thing I find is that people get real well with blogging, and so they just put it off till the end, and they focus on Reels for Instagram and TikTok videos.
00:03:14 [Melissa]
And then they’re, like, trying to come up with 12 different captions for social media posts and, like, all of this stuff.
00:03:19 [Melissa]
And what I’m saying is, I think you need to flip the script and focus on your blog post first and then reutilize that information in your social media and in all of these other marketing avenues, and it’s gonna save you so much time.
00:03:35 [Alison]
It’s gonna 100%.
00:03:36 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:03:36 [Melissa]
It’s gonna change your life at that point because now you’re starting with a huge piece of content and you’re repurposing it.
00:03:43 [Melissa]
I’m for one, I hate coming up with social media captions and stuff.
00:03:46 [Melissa]
But if you’re writing the right blog posts, the information that you’re gonna share is going to be helpful for your clients on social media and stuff too.
00:03:54 [Alison]
And if you want proof of that, all you have to do is go into your Google Search Console.
00:03:58 [Alison]
Check out that graphic of where your audience is coming from.
00:04:01 [Alison]
I don’t know what the title of the graph is, but I will show you mine.
00:04:04 [Alison]
It is massive.
00:04:05 [Alison]
My organic search traffic is 10 times bigger than direct traffic, social media traffic, or paid
00:04:12 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:04:12 [Melissa]
And the thing is too, you could go into your Google Search Console.
00:04:15 [Melissa]
You don’t even have to write a new post.
00:04:16 [Melissa]
You could start this with an old post now.
00:04:18 [Melissa]
You find a post right now that is, like, your top performing post.
00:04:20 [Melissa]
If it’s your top performing, obviously, people like it and it’s helpful.
00:04:24 [Melissa]
So start sharing that on social media.
00:04:27 [Melissa]
What I do is I pulled up one of Alison’s posts.
00:04:29 [Melissa]
I’m gonna talk through this post here and what we would do.
00:04:32 [Melissa]
So the post for her is gonna be top five reasons you must do a morning photo shoot in Hawaii.
00:04:37 [Melissa]
So this is a post that she wrote because she doesn’t wanna do evening sessions because, yep, the beaches are full
00:04:41 [Alison]
of people and traffic and Exactly.
00:04:44 [Melissa]
So this is a post that she sends to clients when they’re inquiring with her because she wants them to know this, like, right up front, this is when we Do this.
00:04:51 [Alison]
Yeah.
00:04:51 [Alison]
This is when a client reaches out to me through my web form.
00:04:54 [Alison]
I have an automated email that goes out that says, hey, I got it.
00:04:57 [Alison]
I will be in touch as soon as possible.
00:04:59 [Alison]
In the meantime, check out this blog post about why I only offer Sunrise sessions because if that’s a game changer for them, cool.
00:05:07 [Alison]
I wanna get to that know faster, better for both of us.
00:05:09 [Alison]
But also if they’re on the fence and they’re willing to read it, I want them to read it because they probably Yeah.
00:05:16 [Melissa]
So with this post here, she’s got five reasons.
00:05:18 [Melissa]
So immediately, my first thought is you’ve written this great post.
00:05:21 [Melissa]
You’ve got five reasons.
00:05:22 [Melissa]
You automatically, right now, have five social media posts, five Instagram posts.
00:05:27 [Melissa]
Each one of these reasons, she could just come in here and copy the first one.
00:05:33 [Melissa]
And then she’s got here, like, information about sunrise photo have beautiful light.
00:05:37 [Melissa]
So the first thing she’s gonna say is, first reason why you need to have the thing is beautiful light.
00:05:41 [Melissa]
And then she’s just gonna copy and paste.
00:05:43 [Melissa]
I don’t know why I’m clicking this.
00:05:44 [Melissa]
You guys can’t see me copy and paste it.
00:05:45 [Melissa]
I’ll do it anyway.
00:05:46 [Melissa]
She’s gonna make a copy and paste what she wrote in that paragraph, paste it into her Instagram caption.
00:05:50 [Melissa]
And then she’s gonna put a thing at the bottom that says, hey.
00:05:53 [Melissa]
If you wanna see the other four reasons, click my link in bio, and she’s gonna link it in her bio for that week maybe or for whatever.
00:06:00 [Melissa]
Maybe this is one of those posts that’s gonna live on her page, but she’s gonna link back and say, okay, you can go read the other four.
00:06:05 [Melissa]
That could go out the first day.
00:06:07 [Melissa]
You could do this in one week.
00:06:08 [Melissa]
You could say, if you’re a person who likes to post every day, now she’s got Monday through Friday worth of posts.
00:06:13 [Melissa]
I tend to post less than that.
00:06:15 [Melissa]
So you could also make this last five weeks.
00:06:17 [Melissa]
It goes once a week.
00:06:19 [Melissa]
Now you’ve got five weeks’ worth of posts.
00:06:21 [Melissa]
So you’re gonna break it up individually that each reason is one.
00:06:24 [Melissa]
Then you’re also gonna make it that the entire post is gonna go onto Instagram.
00:06:29 [Melissa]
Now you’re not gonna copy and paste the entire thing, but what Allison could do with this now is she could copy and paste this and put it into ChatGPT and ask ChatGPT to summarize her words, Not write something new, not create something from scratch, summarize this text only, don’t create anything else, and just create a short Instagram caption summarizes it.
00:06:50 [Melissa]
And now she’s got post number six that’s going on.
00:06:53 [Melissa]
Hey there, photographers.
00:06:55 [Melissa]
Struggling with what to blog about?
00:06:57 [Melissa]
Tired of staring at that blinky cursor waiting for inspiration to strike?
00:07:00 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:07:00 [Melissa]
We’ve all been there.
00:07:01 [Melissa]
That is why I created the blogging club.

00:07:38 [Melissa]
And when it comes to the photos in these, like, I would say, depending on how many photos she puts in so I’m gonna look here.
00:07:43 [Melissa]
She’s got one, two or wait.
00:07:45 [Melissa]
I still it looks like you’ve got, like, one kind of per per thing.
00:07:49 [Melissa]
But what she could do is I know carousel posts are really well.
00:07:51 [Melissa]
So she could pick some images that show really good light and put those into a carousel that goes with that first post.
00:07:57 [Melissa]
And then with the second one, her second reason here is avoiding sweating and under eye shadows.
00:08:03 [Melissa]
So, obviously, she’s not gonna post pictures of people having sweat.
00:08:06 [Alison]
No.
00:08:07 [Alison]
I will off my client’s face.
00:08:09 [Alison]
Yeah.
00:08:09 [Alison]
But they don’t have photos of them.
00:08:11 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:08:11 [Melissa]
But she’s gonna post photos of them looking amazing, and it’s gonna be five different photos.
00:08:15 [Melissa]
And this way, you’re pulling also from your past portfolio and resharing more images and things like that.
00:08:21 [Melissa]
And so she’s gonna go through and do that for each one of those.
00:08:23 [Melissa]
So now all of this stuff for that.
00:08:25 [Melissa]
She’s got carousel posts.
00:08:27 [Melissa]
She could also do a reel.
00:08:28 [Melissa]
And there’s a couple different ways I’ve thought about this for doing a reel.
00:08:30 [Melissa]
Allison loves being on camera, and she has no problem talking on camera, y’all.
00:08:33 [Melissa]
It’s true.
00:08:33 [Melissa]
So she can very easily, even at the beach one morning, like, after her clients have left, find a spot with good light, pop up her phone, and say, guys, I’m gonna talk to you about the five reasons why you need to do a sunrise session, and she’s gonna list them off right there in a quick, like, reel.
00:08:49 [Melissa]
If you don’t want to actually be on camera though, if you’re someone like me Yep.
00:08:53 [Melissa]
For when it comes to that kind of stuff, you could just go ahead and do photos.
00:08:56 [Melissa]
Like, you could grab all of those photos and do it where those photos are gonna be flashing through in the background, and then you have the reasons pop up.
00:09:02 [Melissa]
Reason one, reason two, reason three as text, and do it that way.
00:09:05 [Melissa]
And then they’re real.
00:09:06 [Melissa]
So
00:09:06 [Alison]
One sneaky strategy behind doing a reel like that is you put all five very short reasons over all the images and it loops and it’s a very short, maybe one and a half second reel.
00:09:16 [Alison]
Yeah.
00:09:17 [Alison]
And they don’t realize it because it’s looping and you can get a lot more plays that way.
00:09:21 [Melissa]
Because I’ve had to do that where I wanted to go back and read something and I’m like, keep playing it kind of thing.
00:09:24 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:09:24 [Melissa]
So yeah.
00:09:25 [Melissa]
So it doesn’t Or you press
00:09:26 [Alison]
and hold to engage?
00:09:27 [Melissa]
Yes.
00:09:28 [Melissa]
This is an easy way to take this post and create a reel from it.
00:09:31 [Melissa]
You could even do a reel for each one kind of thing.
00:09:33 [Melissa]
You could say good light and then flash through live images.
00:09:36 [Alison]
One thing that’s on list, any of my listicle I call them listicle.
00:09:40 [Alison]
I guess my marketing girl gave me that.
00:09:41 [Alison]
But creating a graphic so that there’s a carousel of the top two or three.
00:09:46 [Alison]
And you can even do all five.
00:09:48 [Alison]
So people have to swipe and it’s evergreen content.
00:09:50 [Alison]
You can pin it to the top of your profile.
00:09:52 [Alison]
But creating a graphic of one, here’s an image and the reason.
00:09:56 [Alison]
And then you can explain more in the caption or you can do just the top one or two and say, get the rest of the blog post, like you were saying, link in bio, but using a graphic carousel in addition to that.
00:10:07 [Alison]
Yeah.
00:10:07 [Melissa]
And then your Instagram stories, making sure your stories and stuff like that so people are seeing it that way.
00:10:12 [Melissa]
But we just listed off probably at this point seven or eight pieces of content that you’re creating from something you’ve already written.
00:10:18 [Melissa]
You’re not having to come up with the post.
00:10:19 [Melissa]
You’re not having to figure out what the images are.
00:10:21 [Melissa]
You’re just, bam, knocking it out.
00:10:22 [Alison]
And when it comes to evergreen content like this, my favorite way to manage content is not through Planoly.
00:10:29 [Alison]
Even though I use it, I use Planoly.
00:10:31 [Alison]
But I have a Trello board dedicated to Instagram posts as they’re written.
00:10:36 [Alison]
So the hook, the content, the hashtags, everything, each card or list is the topic.
00:10:42 [Alison]
Right?
00:10:42 [Alison]
Evergreen content about the photo shoot itself, about printing, about extended families, or what to wear is the whole list.
00:10:48 [Alison]
And then each card on that list is its own social media caption in the description.
00:10:52 [Alison]
And so we could set all this up, set up what, seven or eight, ten in Trello and then next quarter, next month, set it all up, new images, fresh things, same caption, same content.
00:11:03 [Alison]
Bam, bam, thank you, ma’am.
00:11:04 [Alison]
Reset goal and recycle and recycle.
00:11:06 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:11:07 [Melissa]
And you can share this same stuff six months from now.
00:11:10 [Alison]
More frequently than that, you can share this stuff every week.
00:11:12 [Alison]
People are not reading that often.
00:11:13 [Alison]
And even if they did, they’re not gonna go, did you really just reshare that?
00:11:17 [Alison]
Right.
00:11:17 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:11:17 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:11:18 [Melissa]
Then I’d be like, no, I forgot that she mentioned that.
00:11:20 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:11:20 [Alison]
And that’s something I’m learning from my social media coaches is that even monthly is not often enough sometimes.
00:11:26 [Alison]
She told me there was some content.
00:11:27 [Alison]
She was like, you need to share that every week.
00:11:29 [Alison]
You need to make a new reel every week about how you wanna do sunrise sessions, why sunrise is better.
00:11:33 [Alison]
She was like, no beer blow.
00:11:34 [Alison]
She was like, there’s so many ways you can do that differently, but share it every week.
00:11:38 [Alison]
And I was shocked.
00:11:38 [Alison]
I was like, every week?
00:11:40 [Alison]
That’s true.
00:11:40 [Alison]
Yes.
00:11:41 [Alison]
But that’s just how fleeting social media is, which is you should not put that much effort into it.
00:11:45 [Alison]
Yep.
00:11:45 [Alison]
You should put it into blogging and SEO first and then recycle your material into social media.
00:11:51 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:11:52 [Melissa]
And so TikTok’s gonna be the same thing.
00:11:53 [Melissa]
You know, those reels that we were talking about, you can use those over on TikTok and not have any issues either.
00:11:58 [Melissa]
Alright.
00:11:59 [Melissa]
So next up, let’s talk about LinkedIn.
00:12:01 [Melissa]
So LinkedIn is one of those that I don’t think we utilize it enough, but think about it this way.
00:12:06 [Melissa]
Most of the people on LinkedIn, they’re business professionals and stuff like that.
00:12:10 [Alison]
Yeah.
00:12:11 [Melissa]
So it’s not an area that you should be overlooking.
00:12:13 [Melissa]
You never know.
00:12:14 [Melissa]
And so I would do we talked about of, like, even taking the beginning of the post and posting it on LinkedIn.
00:12:19 [Melissa]
Maybe you could even ask chat gbt.
00:12:21 [Melissa]
Help me summarize this post for a LinkedIn post.
00:12:24 [Melissa]
I will say, I am not super savvy on what the best way to share stuff on LinkedIn is when it comes to that.
00:12:31 [Melissa]
Is it better for you to just put the whole thing on there?
00:12:33 [Melissa]
Is it better to
00:12:34 [Alison]
Yeah.
00:12:34 [Alison]
A little bit?
00:12:35 [Alison]
You can do either, but there is a feature and benefit to their article option.
00:12:41 [Melissa]
Okay.
00:12:42 [Alison]
Yeah.
00:12:42 [Alison]
Which case would be the whole thing.
00:12:43 [Alison]
I’m not savvy enough to know which is better either for or makes you wanna put part of it in there and then put read the rest, but are people really gonna click?
00:12:50 [Alison]
I don’t know.
00:12:51 [Alison]
Yeah.
00:12:51 [Alison]
It was hot when we got to Hawaii.
00:12:53 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:12:53 [Melissa]
It’s something to look at.
00:12:55 [Melissa]
It’s something to not ignore, especially when it comes to getting your work out in different places.
00:12:58 [Melissa]
So I always wanna include LinkedIn as an option.
00:13:02 [Alison]
Hey.
00:13:02 [Alison]
Yes.
00:13:03 [Alison]
I’m talking to you.
00:13:04 [Alison]
How are you feeling about this move?
00:13:06 [Alison]
It’s a lot to process, but I’ve got something for you.
00:13:09 [Alison]
I want you to grab my pre move checklist to make things a little easier.
00:13:13 [Alison]
Even if you’re not sure where you’re going yet, it’s not too early to start.
00:13:16 [Alison]
But you could be losing time on your juice if you dilly dally.
00:13:19 [Alison]
So head over to alisonbell.co.
00:13:22 [Alison]
That’s alisonwith1l,bell.co to get your pre move checklist.
00:13:27 [Alison]
You got this.
00:13:28 [Melissa]
Those Instagram posts and stuff like that, make sure you’re sharing them to your Facebook page, having it post on both.
00:13:33 [Melissa]
And then always, y’all, if you’re sharing something on your Facebook page, share it to your personal page too.
00:13:39 [Melissa]
Don’t just repost it on your personal page.
00:13:41 [Melissa]
Go in from your personal account, go to your Facebook page, and share it to your personal profile.
00:13:45 [Melissa]
If your friends and family are annoyed that you’re talking about your business, they’re not really
00:13:49 [Alison]
good friends and family.
00:13:50 [Alison]
Mhmm.
00:13:50 [Melissa]
And you never know.
00:13:51 [Melissa]
You might have a friend that’s interested.
00:13:52 [Melissa]
Come on.
00:13:53 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:13:53 [Melissa]
The other thing you can do is share in a group if it’s a relevant post.
00:13:57 [Melissa]
So I’ve mentioned Allison before in my blogging club.
00:14:00 [Melissa]
She has written posts at various times that had to do with local events in Oahu.
00:14:05 [Melissa]
And so she has then taken those posts and shared them in mom groups and local parenting groups because she’s not yeah.
00:14:12 [Melissa]
She’s not advertising her business.
00:14:14 [Melissa]
She’s advertising something like didn’t you do your recent one was like where to watch fireworks?
00:14:18 [Alison]
Yeah.
00:14:18 [Alison]
Where to find fireworks for 07/04/2024.
00:14:21 [Alison]
I think it got over a thousand clicks in a very short period, maybe one week.
00:14:25 [Alison]
It blew up.
00:14:26 [Alison]
But, yeah, travel with Honolulu happenings and travel events, Wahoo travel advice, moms, military people, all kinds of stuff.
00:14:34 [Alison]
Now there’s a ton of people searching for Hawaii stuff, but I shared it in all different types of groups in addition to Google My Business
00:14:42 [Melissa]
as well.
00:14:42 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:14:43 [Melissa]
So those types of things are good for if you’ve got a group like that to share.
00:14:46 [Melissa]
Now, obviously, if you’ve got a mom group or whatever and I don’t push, oh, go find your clients on Facebook or whatever.
00:14:51 [Melissa]
But point being, Allison’s getting a lot of clients from that because they’re looking at that stuff.
00:14:57 [Melissa]
It’s not clients, I guess.
00:14:58 [Melissa]
Allison’s getting a lot of clicks, and she’s getting a lot of traffic to her website, which results in Google pushing for the rest of her keywords.
00:15:05 [Melissa]
Yep.
00:15:06 [Melissa]
That’s what we’re going for there.
00:15:07 [Melissa]
And then your Google business profile.
00:15:09 [Melissa]
You guys should definitely be updating your Google business profile with things like this, with these blog posts and stuff.
00:15:14 [Melissa]
So that’s How often should we be updating that at all?
00:15:18 [Melissa]
I say, at the very minimum, like, once a week, you should be updating it.
00:15:21 [Melissa]
There are plugins that you can set up on your blog that will auto deliver things.
00:15:25 [Melissa]
You can set content as Evergreen, and it will just auto post those once a week and share.
00:15:29 [Melissa]
I know in some SEO groups I’m in, they talk about for Google business profile, like, posting to it every day.
00:15:33 [Alison]
Are people even reading updates post those things?
00:15:35 [Melissa]
Because you can see the interactions for them and stuff.
00:15:38 [Melissa]
I’ve seen where I’ve had interactions and things like that.
00:15:41 [Melissa]
But if you think about it, you’re keeping that profile fresh with Google.
00:15:44 [Melissa]
You’ve got new information that’s going out there.
00:15:46 [Melissa]
You’re utilizing that service.
00:15:47 [Melissa]
You could be getting clicks to your website from it.
00:15:49 [Melissa]
I have gotten clicks from those different posts and stuff, so definitely updating that.
00:15:53 [Melissa]
Okay.
00:15:53 [Alison]
So small update to the clicks elevating my rankings.
00:15:56 [Melissa]
Mhmm.
00:15:57 [Alison]
I am now number one for my target keyword.
00:15:59 [Alison]
And I have not checked this in at least a month, if not two months.
00:16:02 [Alison]
I don’t know when that happened.
00:16:03 [Alison]
Big freaking deal.
00:16:04 [Melissa]
Have you updated anything on your page?
00:16:06 [Melissa]
I
00:16:06 [Alison]
No.
00:16:07 [Alison]
Yeah.
00:16:07 [Alison]
Not a thing.
00:16:09 [Melissa]
That’s where time and things that are not necessarily on page SEO help.
00:16:13 [Melissa]
What the eighty twenty rule called?
00:16:15 [Melissa]
80% of your results come from 20% of your effort?
00:16:17 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:16:17 [Melissa]
The I think it’s the Pareto rule.
00:16:19 [Alison]
Yes.
00:16:20 [Alison]
Start with a p.
00:16:21 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:16:21 [Alison]
Y’all we got we should figure that out.
00:16:22 [Alison]
I live by that thing.
00:16:24 [Melissa]
Another thing, Pinterest.
00:16:25 [Melissa]
So this particular post for Allison, she could go out to Pinterest and she could start pinning these things and linking it back.
00:16:31 [Melissa]
And, you know, at that point, you’ve got those five reasons.
00:16:34 [Melissa]
That’s something, especially if people are planning a Hawaii vacation, they might be on Pinterest for things to do in Hawaii, or they may be looking for what to wear for Hawaii photos in Hawaii.
00:16:42 [Melissa]
Just different things like that, but getting those pins out there for that kind of thing.
00:16:46 [Melissa]
And when it comes to Pinterest too, multiple pins.
00:16:48 [Melissa]
Don’t just pin it once.
00:16:50 [Melissa]
Pin it multiple times.
00:16:51 [Alison]
So many times.
00:16:51 [Alison]
My marketing girl was good about this and set me up on a good trajectory before we ever left Virginia Beach for this.
00:16:56 [Alison]
And I actually had a client this week say she got me on Pinterest.
00:16:59 [Melissa]
Yep.
00:17:00 [Melissa]
There you go.
00:17:01 [Melissa]
And all it takes is one for something.
00:17:02 [Alison]
That’s not just wasn’t even an inquiry.
00:17:03 [Alison]
She booked.
00:17:04 [Melissa]
There you go.
00:17:05 [Melissa]
And then your email newsletter.
00:17:07 [Melissa]
As many people are like, Oh, I don’t email people.
00:17:09 [Melissa]
And I know for Allison, that’s a little bit harder because her clients are typically coming to Hawaii from The States and from wherever, so she doesn’t have that reoccurring clients.
00:17:17 [Melissa]
But for me, I do have reoccurring clients kind of thing.
00:17:21 [Melissa]
So these are things, like, even if I’m gonna shoot families and I see the same families year after year, these posts could be relevant to them.
00:17:27 [Melissa]
If it’s a newborn session kind of thing that I’m shooting now, mom still is gonna be around for a while.
00:17:33 [Melissa]
So having an email newsletter where you’re sharing different things, and then you can include your latest blog posts in there.
00:17:38 [Melissa]
It helps get more clicks, encourage people to share it.
00:17:41 [Melissa]
For this particular post, like, maybe somebody inquired with Allison as thinking about an extended family session.
00:17:46 [Melissa]
So they read that.
00:17:46 [Melissa]
Now they’re sharing it over with the sister-in-law of, oh, hey.
00:17:49 [Melissa]
This is why she recommends Sunrise.
00:17:51 [Melissa]
And each time, Allison’s getting another click
00:17:52 [Alison]
and another click.
00:17:53 [Alison]
That’s exactly what’s happening.
00:17:55 [Melissa]
After that, you really can get into a little bit of paid advertising on things of retargeting ads and stuff, where if someone’s been out to your website because of clicking on this post, you could then set up retargeting ads that show them other helpful posts.
00:18:08 [Melissa]
So maybe now she’s got another post on what to wear for your family session in Hawaii, saying if they landed on this page, I wanna retarget them with this post or this other post or this other post kind of thing.
00:18:19 [Melissa]
And that just keeps bringing that traffic to your website and things like that.
00:18:22 [Melissa]
So when you start with your blog post and do it first instead of putting it off till the end of the week because you’re like, I hate blogging.
00:18:29 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:18:30 [Melissa]
You can just make the rest of your week go so, so much easier.
00:18:34 [Alison]
I need to get into the analytics of it.
00:18:36 [Alison]
But going back to the July fourth fireworks, I had over a thousand clicks, 1,200 clicks in a in a very short amount of time, even more total.
00:18:44 [Alison]
All those people who went to my website were then fed my retargeting ad on Facebook.
00:18:48 [Alison]
Yep.
00:18:48 [Alison]
So whether or not they were considering photos, they were seeing me again.
00:18:53 [Alison]
So it’s interesting.
00:18:54 [Alison]
I should see what the analytics and data say about the ad.
00:18:57 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:18:58 [Melissa]
For July.
00:18:58 [Melissa]
So I have a checklist on this.
00:19:00 [Melissa]
It’s my where to share checklist that just reminds you of, hey, share on Instagram, share this.
00:19:05 [Melissa]
So you guys can download that as a freebie that you can have with you that anytime you write a blog post, then you can run through that where to share to remember, oh, yeah.
00:19:11 [Melissa]
I need to share in these different places to get your post out there.
00:19:14 [Melissa]
And I will say too, if you’re having trouble with blogging, if you’re like, Melissa, I know I’m supposed to blog, but I don’t know what to write, I really highly recommend you guys come over and check us out in the blogging club.
00:19:25 [Melissa]
We will include a link to the blogging club with an offer for you guys to get 50% off your first month.
00:19:31 [Melissa]
So you’ll be able to get in there, you get 50% off the first month, you get to jump in to the content and check it out, make sure it’s a good fit for you.
00:19:39 [Melissa]
But I’ve got blog post outlines in those in there that walk you through exactly what to put into your blog post.
00:19:45 [Melissa]
I can’t write it for you because it needs to be in your clients, but I do
00:19:48 [Alison]
it right.
00:19:49 [Alison]
Just writing a whole bunch of words is not gonna increase your rankings.
00:19:52 [Melissa]
Yeah.
00:19:52 [Melissa]
But I can tell you how to break it down into sections, what needs to go in that section, and basically seed you ideas to get the juices flowing for you so you can create that post that’s gonna start this marketing right here.
00:20:04 [Melissa]
We also do a q and a call once a month.
00:20:06 [Melissa]
We have a Facebook group where you can share your post, and you can ask questions and stuff in there.
00:20:11 [Melissa]
But feedback so far we’ve gotten is people really like the fact that I’m walking them through.
00:20:15 [Melissa]
And I show you example blog posts in there too.
00:20:17 [Melissa]
You’ll find some of Alison’s blog posts that I’ve shared as examples along with my own and stuff just so you guys can see how a post actually was created, like, what was the framework behind it, and what needs to go into it.
00:20:29 [Melissa]
And, like, it’s just so much easier than stare at the blanky cursor.
00:20:31 [Alison]
I feel like I wanna share the, some of my search console graphics.
00:20:34 [Alison]
Maybe that needs to be an Instagram post for this episode so y’all can see why it’s so important.
00:20:38 [Alison]
So instead of it being an afterthought, it needs to be your primary strategy.
00:20:42 [Alison]
SEO really is the definition of the eighty twenty rule to me.
00:20:45 [Alison]
So blog posts I haven’t used in I haven’t touched or updated or changed in two years are still getting me hundreds of clicks a month.
00:20:51 [Alison]
So Yep.
00:20:52 [Alison]
It’s possible.
00:20:53 [Melissa]
Same here.
00:20:54 [Alison]
Awesome.
00:20:55 [Alison]
